Mandatory 14-days Quarantine Act explained for travelers to Canada

Canada has today (26th March 2020) relaxed it’s travel restrictions to allow some international students and foreign workers to enter Canada but they have also passed a quarantine legislation.

Quarantine act is basically a measure to protect Canadians against COVID-19 (Coronavirus). Starting today, CBSA will start informing all Canadians, permanent residents and exempted travelers that they are forbidden from making any stops on their way to home and they will asked to self isolate for a period of 14 days. Everyone entering Canada has to follow this mandatory quarantine period whether they have any symptoms of coronavirus or not.

This is really important for temporary resident visitors (international students and foreign workers) to know the seriousness of the issue. Officials will conduct random checkups that could involve phone calls or in-person visits.

Anyone found violating this mandatory quarantine could be slapped with heavy fines , jail time or both. So, please be mindful, stay home and stay healthy! You will get a chance to explore this beautiful country once this epidemic is under control.
