As an international student it’s your responsibility to update IRCC if you happen to switch your school in Canada while being on a study permit. You do not need to apply for a new study permit if you switch your school or field of study. The process to update IRCC about this change is a free online service.
If you do not update immigration about change of your school it may hurt your chances to extend study permit or PGWP in future.
Here are different scenarios:
- if you change just your study program in the same school /DLI then no need to update IRCC
- if you change your school/ DLI then tell IRCC ASAP via MY CIC account.
